It’s getting increasingly difficult to suggest anyone other than Forest Green will be lifting the League Two title come the end of the season. Another professional 2-0 victory this week over Newport County saw them move ten points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand over nearest rivals Tranmere. Matt Stevens was amongst the goals again for FGR, scoring both on the day. That takes Stevens tally to 19 for the season, just one behind Newport striker Dominic Telford. Forest Green managed to stifle the in form striker who has 20 goals in as many matches since signing for Newport. It was Stevens who fans were quick to praise, scoring a 7.74 for his brace on the day. Newport’s main man Telford managed just a 4.99, his lowest rating since his move to the County.
Leyton Orients struggles continued, now winless in five, the O’s suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Colchester United. A goal inside the opening five minutes from former Ipswich Town man Freddie Sears was enough to secure the visitors all three points form the East London outfit. Truthfully it was a dull affair between two struggling sides, goal scorer Sears scored highest on the afternoon with a 6.66. Leyton Orients Daniel Moss scored a low 3.99 from fans. Moss arrived as the first Orient signing in January, it’s safe to say the Orient faithful will be looking for much better performances from their new loan signing in the weeks to come.
